Serves:12 -14 pieces

Preparation Time:10-12 minutes

Cooking Time: 5-7minutes

Ingredients:

  1. 2 ½ cup fresh grated coconut
  2. 1 cup sugar
  3. 2 cup rice flour
  4. ½ cup cashew nut, broken pieces
  5. 1 cup milk
  6. 2 ½ cup water
  7. 1 tbsp cardamom power
  8. 4 tbsp melted ghee
  9. 2 teaspoon white sesame (till)
  10. 2 teaspoon poppy seeds (khas khas)
  11. Salt to taste

Recipe:

Soak cashew nuts in water and keep it aside. Stir fry sesame and poppy seeds separately. Take a bowl and mix grated coconut, milk, sugar, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, cardamom powder and cashew nuts. Heat ghee in a pan and add the above mixture. Cook it on medium flame till sugar melts and milk evaporates. Turn it regularly. You will find that the mixture slowly become thick. Allow it to cool. Take another pan and boil water in it. Add salt and ghee to it. Add rice flour and keep stirring rice flour till water evaporates and batter thickens. Keep aside to cool for five to seven minutes. Knead dough till it become soft without any lumps. Make marble size balls of it and keep aside. Take a silicon sheet, apply a drop of oil to it and pat each ball into a round flat disc of approximately three inches diameter. Place one tablespoon of coconut filling at the centre of it and draw the ends together in the form of pleats to give a conical shape at the top of it. Join all the pleats by pressing the tip. Steam all modaks for twelve to fifteen minutes. Serve hot.
